I met Jordan Deen at Indie Girl Con in Charleston, SC and was given a copy of this book for an honest review. Ms. Deen is such a nice, warm, friendly person and her book sounded so interesting that I went home that night and started reading it. Well, I fell asleep on the couch, but that had nothing to do with the book. I couldn't stop reading it. The story pulls you in.Book 1 of The Crescent Trilogy
Lacey Quinn is your typical 17 year old girl. She is spending the summer before her Senior Year with her best friend Jillian and also working as a Vet Assistant with her Aunt. Her life at home is stressful, her dad is an alcoholic and her mom has recently turned to pills as a way to cope. They are constantly arguing and Lacey uses her ever present iPod (I love her choice in music) to drown out their frequent fights. She is counting down the days until she can graduate and move the 500+ miles away to the college of her choice. Then school starts and there is not one, but two hot guys that start and are interested in her. You meet Alex first, then Brandon. That's when the weirdness begins. Fainting, mysterious illnesses, strange smells, dreams and a mark that appears on her palm when she shakes hands with Brandon. There is the typical pull, should she be with Alex or should she be with Brandon. There are twists and turns in this book that I never expected, you think one thing and then Ms. Deen throws you a curve ball and flips it.
I can't wait to begin the second book and find out what happens next!

4.5 stars!! This was a fun and quick read! I read it in one sitting. I really enjoyed this one and it kept me on the edge of my seat! We are introduced to 17 year old Lacey. Just like every other teenager, she doesn't get along with her parents and plans to get away after she graduates. Then when the new kid, Alex, comes into her life.. things start to change. The two hit it off right away and fall into a relationship. But when Brandon enter's the picture, he stirs up emotion's inside of her which starts confusing her.
I have always been into books and movies that had to do with werewolves and this one did not disappoint! It was very well written and the plot was complex and sooo interesting!! It was full of adventure and mystery. Lacey enter's a crazy world that she is so unfamiliar with. One day she was just your average teen and the next she was dealing with prophecy's and wolf's.
Lacey was a great character and I connected with her right away. At times, I even felt bad for her. Things were happening to her life and she just didn't know why. There are multiple characters we meet throughout the story and each one has to do with this new dysfunctional life that Lacey has to live. Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone that likes a quick read and werewolves!!.
I love a good love triangle with a sprinkling of paranormal! This book sucked me in!
Lacey starts another year of school not expecting much to happen. She just can't wait until her eighteenth birthday. One of her periods at school is working in the front office. She thought it was going to be a bring job until Alex walks in. Alex is a new student and for some strange reason she feels connected to him. She gets these flashes like they have kissed and she can't explain why she's drawn to him. He is totally hot and she can't for the life of her figure out why Alex is attracted to her. She's not Miss Popular or anything!
Then another new student joins the school. Brandon is just as hot, if not hotter and she keeps having dreams of what looks like a future together with him. Why in the world does she have two hot guys after her?
Things get strange when things start happening that just have to be a dream. Why would she have such a horrible reaction to being near Alex? And where has Brandon been?
The one things that is a constant for a while in her life is her new dog Grant. She found him in her backyard without any tags. He seems to be the one living creature that she can confide in, even though he's as big as a horse and her parents don't want him around.
If you love paranormal reads with a love triangle and a little mystery and a threat of death mixed in, then this is the book for you! Jordan Deen sucked me into her world. I could not put this book down!
This book grips you pretty much from the beginning and doesn’t let go. It’s an extremely quick read and I hated to tear myself away from it for even a little while, once things really got going. I read it very quickly and it definitely held my interest. It was intense, suspenseful, and had some intriguing mythology in it. I especially liked how true mates were marked for each other and that the mark in their palms grew more distinct the stronger their bond became. I also liked the twist near the end with Grant and how mates couldn’t be apart for very long without weakening and how true mates could meet in their dreams. Lots of great stuff, and I think the series has a lot of potential.
Just a few things to note There are some heavy-duty scenes where the main character comes extremely close to having sex and there’s also a bit of cussing sprinkled throughout, including use of the F word. I prefer sweet, clean romances, so these things bothered me. The book also ends on a bit of a cliffhanger. Together, these things are what kept me from rating the book a full five stars.
Beyond those issues, though, I found it to be a gripping read and very entertaining, with some surprising twists that I didn’t see coming. I normally don’t read shape-shifter books, so the fact that I enjoyed this one and rated it so highly speaks to how engaging it is. I’m really interested to see where things go from here with the heroine being torn between her feelings for Alex and Brandon and the whole pack being on the run. I think a lot of paranormal romance fans out there will love this book.
